Virgin Atlantic and the Free Ticket ...
Kyla Ebbert, Richard Branson, Carmen ElectraCompany founder Richard Branson even brought some of his irreverent tactics to USA, where Virgin-backed start-up Virgin America began flying earlier this year. Branson courted headlines when he invited Kyla Ebbert to fly for free on Virgin America — an invite that came after the scantily clad Hooters Girl had become embroiled in a wardrobe flap with discount giant Southwest. Ebbert accepted, as you might have expected, showing up in alongside the billionaire Branson last month for Virgin America’s inaugural Las Vegas flight — something that was described by the San Francisco Chronicle as a “dramatic entrance.” Actress Carmen Electra (shown here with Ebbert and Branson) also tagged along. In case you were wondering, the Chronicle explains that “while Branson and Electra were there to inform and entertain, Ebbert was there as a direct dig at Virgin’s archrival Southwest.”

[ST. LOUIS] Passengers can rock away in new chairs
Lambert-St. Louis has installed 70 rocking chairs for passengers in post-security areas in the East Terminal. "Rocking chairs have been a top request," said airport director Dick Hrabko. The blue rocking chairs are located near gates. They're part of a broader campaign by the airport to add amenities. It has added live music performances and will open a cellphone parking lot in a few weeks.
(Ed. Note: BWI already has both rocking chairs and a cellphone lot)

Amtrak opens mobile hot spots at stations
Amtrak will install Wi-Fi hot spots at five Northeast corridor stations, giving all passengers access to wireless Internet service for the first time. The service, provided by T-Mobile, will be available at Washington Union Station, Baltimore Penn Station, Wilmington, Del., Station, Philadelphia 30th Street Station and New York Penn Station. Spokeswoman Tracy Connell said some locations of the Club Acela first-class lounge had wireless, but this is the first time it has been made available throughout the stations. “Reliable and secure wireless Internet access is one of the amenities most frequently requested by our customers,” said Matt Hardison, Amtrak’s customer service.

Philadelphia adds parking improvements
Philadelphia International plans to install an electronic system that would alert motorists to unoccupied parking spaces. It should be installed within three months at the airport’s five garages. Electronic signs at the end of each row of parking spaces will direct motorists to an available space. ‘We’re doing it for better customer service and to speed traffic flow,’ says Linda Miller, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Parking Authority. Also, before heading to the airport, motorists picking up passengers can type in an arriving flight number at the authority’s website, philapark.org, and find the nearest, least-expensive parking.”
